It was great to be at the Novotel Brighton Beach Hotel within my own electorate to launch this fantastic initiative with the Prime Minister Tony Abbott MP and the Assistant Minister for Employment, Luke Hartsuyker MP.
I wanted to acknowledge Mr Simon McGrath, Chairman and Chief-Executive of Accor Pacific who was present at the launch. I know that the Accor Group is passionate about flexibility and age diversity in employment, with the knowledge that life experience often translates into professional excellence in fields like communication.
The Restart Programmesubsidises the employment of mature-age Australians, galvanising businesses with the life experience, communication skills and sense of diversity that senior citizens have to offer.
It was great to be able to highlight the benefits that Barton stands to gain from the rollout of this wage subsidy, given the rate of long-term unemployment that mature-age Australians in my electorate face.
The Restart Programme is an initiative from which my electorate of Barton, and the Australian economy as a whole, stands to benefit greatly.
I wish to thank everyone who has taken the time to join with us today and of course, the individual who is responsible for spearheading a broad reform agenda that focusses on getting more Australians into work, the Hon. Tony Abbott, the Prime Minister.
