Nickolas Varvaris is the Federal Member for Barton in Australia’s Federal Coalition Government. He is also a member of the Federal Environment Committee and has served as the Member for Barton in the House of Representatives since September 2013.
Born and raised in the seat of Barton, Nickolas was one of Kogarah City Council’s longest serving mayors. He has a proven record of commitment and service to his community.
Nickolas and his wife Dorette are raising their two young children in the St. George area and as a former accountant of a local firm providing financial advice, Nickolas understands the cost of living pressures facing families.
Having witnessed firsthand the financial stress and burden businesses owners and their families have experienced over the last few years, he understands the need for a strong and stable economy and the importance of supporting small business to generate jobs and create opportunities locally.
Having served on the board of many not-for-profit organisations, he has been involved in sporting, aged care, education and the arts, and as a Kogarah City Councillor for 15 years, Nickolas has demonstrated a passion for building a stronger local community that provides opportunities for Barton’s future generations.
With a reputation for focusing on the job, Nickolas is a strong local advocate for Barton.
