2014 Sydney South Volunteer of the Year Award

It was fantastic to present awards to brave and selfless Australians today alongside my Federal Colleagues Craig Kelly and David Coleman - Member for Banks for the 2014 Sydney South Volunteer of the Year Award.
I was immensely proud to see local Grandmother Marie Gai Oberlander of Sans Souci, within my electorate of Barton, be named the Overall Winner of the Award for her work with Dress for Success, Meals on Wheels, and Look Good Feel Better Cancer Patients Foundation.
Volunteers like Gai keep the heart of our community beating and work quietly behind the scenes without thought of reward. They deserve enormous respect and should inspire us all to do our part to make our community a better place for all. As our Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said, “It’s not what we have to do but what we choose to do which is the true measure of our humanity.”
Congratulations to all finalists and winners.
